The Experience Economy - MBA Dissertation 2007I love Latin American dancing. To complete my full time MBA at The University of Edinburgh’s Management School I needed a topic for my final thesis. I had in my head at the time a business plan for a Latin nightlcub/restaurant. The part that interested me the most in this business plan was the most in-tangible. The marketing of human experience. How does one create experiences that can be sold? How does one build a brand name that sells experience? How does one measure experiences? I started with an article published in the Harvard Business Review in 1998 by Joseph B. Pine II & James H. Gilmore entitled “Welcome to the Experience Economy”. This lead me to discover another experience economy model by Poulsson & Kale which I tested along with Pine and Gilmore's against high street entertainment (or eatertainment) businesses. If you want to learn more and feel free to download and read my thesis on this subject. All feedback and enquires are most welcome. George Dissertation on Experience Marketing(PDF)
